This is a list of current classes that we are running at the store.

Classes and events

Introduction to quilting – This is now an ongoing class which will run throughout the year.

 

The beginners quilting course runs over 6 weeks and during that time we cover colour, fabric choices, cutting , machine piecing, making a quilt sandwich, hand quilting and machine quilting and how to finish a quilt.
You will leave with two completed mini table runners.
We keep the group small (three students) so that you all get plenty of one on one and aim for a relaxed friendly feel to the nights.
The class costs $250 included in that cost are your 3 basic pieces of equipment your rotary blade, cutting mat and quilting ruler.
You will need to provide your own fabrics and cotton but its best to purchase these after the first lesson where we talk about colour and fabric choices for the project.

We are now taking bookings for our next classes which will run over 6 weeks from 7-9pm in the evenings.

Course Dates: Course 1 : May 1st ending on 5th June - Tuesday night

                      Course 2 : May 17th ending on 21st June - Thursday night

                      Course 3 : June 26th ending on 31st July - Tuesday night

                      Course 4 : July 5th ending on 9th Aug - Thursday night

 

Course cost is $250, please email us to get further course information.

One-off classes

30th may - Stitch sampler class

13th June - Learn to crochet granny squares

27th June - English hand piecing class - working with hexagons

11th July - Felt Bird class

8th Aug - Clasp purse class

22nd Aug - Learn how to create a crochet ripple blanket

All of the above classes cost $45 and include all materials. They run in the evenings between 7-9pm


Christmas Demo Nights

Coming soon - we will be running a range of Christmas craft demo nights from July so that you can get all your crafting finished in time this year. Details to follow


You can join any of the below clubs at any time in the year

The colour wheel club

For quilters and crafters who want to build up their fabric stashes. Each month you receive five fat quarters in that months colour way, it will include a mix of fabrics – tone on tone, solids, graphics, colour on white. We will mix it up to keep it fun. We have 3, 6 , and 12 month options available.

                                                                                                                           

Modern Block Club 

The modern block club provides you with a different block pattern with instructions each month and which will build into a beautiful quilt through the year. 12 months only

$6.50 per month


The Yarn Club

This is a 3 or 6 month club. Each month you will receive yarn to the value of $30 with suggestions or patterns that go with it. This will be a great way to try different projects and yarns , we plan to use a wide variety of yarn including ones from NZ hand dyers.

Cost is $ 35 per month

 

DMC Stitch Club

For all our keen stitchers out there we have decided to run a DMC club - each month you will receive five complementing

threads as well as a cute pattern.  We have a 6 month and a 12 month option on this club

Cost $14 per month

Groups

All of our groups meet in store and most are free

Tuesday afternoons – needle work group 1 -2.30pm bring your hand work in for a chat

Wednesday mornings - knitting group 10 – 12.30am whether you are a beginner or knit everyday this is the group for you to meet likeminded yarn addicts

Thursday afternoon – modern quilters day group 1 – 2.30pm find inspiration, share your work and do hand work. It's all about ”modern”
  

Last Friday of the month – Stitch and Bitch 7-9pm come and join us for tea and homemade cakes and get some crafting done $5
 

The first Monday of the month – modern quilters night group 7 – 9pm meet up and share info on books, blogs and chat about modern quilting
